It was a dream start for Russia as they got their world cup journey to a flying start with a very emphatic win over their fellow group A opponent Saudi Arabia.
The Russians playing in front of their home crowd which included President Vladimir Putin totally outplayed their Arabian counterparts who were all but impressive in the game.
The opening goal came in the 31st minute from No 8 player Yury Gazinsky in the 11th minute. The second goal came just before the stroke of half-time after first-half substitute Denis Cheryshev took out two defenders in the 6-yard box before firing the ball to the far right of the goal.
